Thread Tension Sensors

Micro-Sensor (formerly Mikrotechnik + Sensorik) GmbH sensors are based on the principle of difference capacitance and are made for heavy outside applications in industry and agriculture. The sensors are lightweight, robust and resistant to fuel, oil, seawater and a lot of chemicals.

Because of their design, all sensors can measure acceleration, inclination and vibration.

Principle of Difference Capacitance

A difference capacitor consist of two conductive plates (blue). Between theses plates is conductive “tongue“ (green). This system uses MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) technology. Acceleration forces (and gravity) move the tongue changing the capacitance. The change of capacitance is proportional to the acceleration. In M+S designs the plates and togue are replaced with small comb structures. Inertia and resonance frequency determine upper frequency limits (around 2kHz). There is no lower frequency limitation. This technique is also good for measure inclination and tilt. Inclination and tilt measurements are affected by gravity, so this is compensated for in the measurement.

Thread Tension Sensor

Micro-Sensor GmbH thread tension sensor systems use the same principles measuring thread tension in textile machines and wire production. They measure the force of a yarn, thread or wire with high precision up to 25cN, 50cN and 100cN.
